With the growing awareness regarding the benefits of feeding the aquacultured species with commercial aquafeed, the demand for commercial aquafeed is increasing in the country. According to a new report by RNCOS, India Commercial Aquafeed Market Outlook 2018, until now carps were majorly being cultured in the country. However, with an increase in the production of catfish and tilapia, the amount of commercial aquafeed required in the country will also see rapid growth in the coming years.

According to our report, over the past few years, new technologies are being introduced to increase the production of tilapia and catfishes. With the development of new technologies, efforts are also being made to improve the feed of these fishes in order to attain high productivity. Thus, the commercial finfish feed consumption of tilapia and catfishes is expected to grow during 2014-2018. The growth in the demand of commercial feed of these fishes would also propel an equivalent increase in the demand for ingredients like soybean meal and rice bran amongst some, as these ingredients are used in a high proportion in the meal of above fishes.
