In 2005, IT security market worldwide, the revenue generated from the sale of VPN/firewall hardware and software increased by a mere two percent between the second quarter but leapfrogged to attain a growth rate of 15 percent with a market size of $845 Mn in the third quarter of the same year.

VPN and firewall appliances make up for 80 per cent of all VPN/firewall hardware revenue while software and SSL VPNs accounts for 12 percent and three percent of the overall VPN/firewall market.
