Kodak Leads USA digital camera market

In 2005, Eastman Kodak Co became the leader in digital camera market in USA. Kodak reached this ranking by crushing Japanese rivals Canon Inc and Sony Corp, number 1& 2 placeholders in the previous year (2004).
 
During the year 2005, digital camera shipment to domestic retailers reached 5.9Mn as compared to 5Mn in 2004. Out of which 7Mn digital cameras were shipped by Kodak alone. During the period July to September (2005), digital camera shipment to domestic retailers in USA increased by approximately 13.3%.
 
Sales of digital cameras in domestic market touched 29Mn mark in 2005, with Kodak accounting for 25% of it. However, it’s likely to exceed record-breaking 30Mn units towards the end of 2006.
