Indian Stem Cell Market to Hit US$ 540 Million by 2010

Growing at a rate of 15% per annum India’s stem cell market is estimated to hit US$ 540 Million by the year 2010, while the global stem cell market is expected to touch US$ 20 Billion mark, said Dr D Balasubramaniam, SCRFI (Stem Cell Research Forum of India) president, in a statement that ChennaiOnline published on 30 January 2007.
 
SCRFI is a society set up to assemble medical and biological scientists having interest in stem cell research and to encourage scientific research in the field of stem cell biology. The society held its 1st annual meeting & international conference in Bangalore on 29 January 2007.
 

Throughout India, there’re 15 centers for doing research on stem cell. Of these five are performing extensive trials in cardiology’s field.
