Global PC Market: Growing at a Snail's Pace

Despite the initial slowdown, a healthy growth of 13% was observed in PC shipment worldwide in the Q1 of 2006. Western Europe & United States saw a considerable decline in the growth, where it dropped 1.2% above predictions.
 
However, World PC market is showing signs of impressive growth in the years to come. Observing the gradual progress in the industry, it’s anticipated that the market will rise somewhere between 1.3% & 12.3% by 2007. Year 2008 will also see favorable growth in this sector.
 
In its recently published market research report named, “Portable Electronics Market - Worldwide (2006)” RNCOS has provided the following statistical information:
 
- PC shipment grew by 14.9% and 15.8% during 2004 and 2005, respectively.
- The PC market grew at an impressive rate during the year 2005, with worldwide shipment growing at about 16.8% annually.
- Although shipment in North America remained far behind expectations, the worldwide market observed third consecutive quarter of growth.
- Q4 of 2005 saw an increase of 17.3% with the shipment of 61.4Mn portable electronic devices. The increase in fourth quarter (2005) spurred the shipment for the entire year to 209.2Mn at a growth rate of 16.4%.
- The growth was slightly ahead of projections of 15.4% for Q4 of 2005 and 16% for the entire year.
- There’ll be a slight slowdown in the growth rate of portable electronics market during the years 2009 and 2010.
 
As per experts at RNCOS, “Total shipment volume shall reach 285.2Mn by 2008, with a value of $254.1Bn. However, the same shall touch 334.1Mn, with a value of $270.9Bn towards the year 2010”.
