Breast Fed Children Have Better Vision

Babies who are breast fed by their mothers tend to have much better vision as against those who sustain on bottle milk. A study that was conducted by the London’s Institute of Child Health researchers has found this, reports Daily Mail on February 2007. This is one of the numerous other advantages of breast-feeding.
Institute of Child Health had conducted this survey among 262 kids falling under the age group of 4-6 years in London. In the surveyed group 184 kids had been fed by bottle with formula milk whereas 78 had been breast-fed.
Formula milk contains two kinds of fatty acids AA and DHA. According to some scientists, DHA is a kind of omega-3 fatty acid that’s present in the breast milk and is responsible for healthy vision. When these kids were tested, the survey found that babies who were breast-fed had comparatively better vision than their bottle-fed counterparts.
Dr.Atul Singhal, lead researcher, told Daily Mail on February 9, 2007, "Our study adds to the growing evidence that breast-feeding has long-term benefits for visual development."
He said that other components in breast milk might be responsible for better vision.
