A new market research report, “Opportunities in Singapore Tourism Industry (2007-2009)”, by RNCOS says that new infrastructure developments and organization of many mega events will fuel growth into Singapore’s tourism industry, taking the total international tourist arrivals to around 14 Million by 2012.

As per the report, new infrastructure developments are also adding to the growth of the Singapore's tourism industry. The country has recently launched its latest tourist attraction, The Singapore Flyer (Asia’s first-ever giant observation wheel). Furthermore, the government has allowed two casino resorts to open by 2010, in the hope of retaining the custom of its own citizens who have historically ventured overseas to gamble, as well as attracting high-rolling gamblers from rest of the countries.

The report identifies several major inaugural events conducted by Singapore Tourism Board (STB) such as the Singapore Air-Show and recently organized 2008 FORMULA 1™ Singtel Singapore Grand Prix as the significant drivers for the country’s tourism industry. In 2010, Singapore will host the inaugural Youth Olympic Games which will further spur the tourism industry. These events are boosting both inbound and domestic tourism, thus making the industry highly active.

These developments will definitely help Singapore to achieve its targets of 14 Million visitors by the year 2012.
