Being one of the fastest growing economies and the second largest populated country, India represents an attractive destination for the power industry. The working age population is increasing at a rapid pace, thereby creating a strong demand for electricity. The rising consumption of energy validates the fact. In the past few years, there has been a splendid growth in the power generation and capacity and with the proper enactment of several policies; the trend is likely to continue in the coming future. Reforms such as, the Electricity Act and National Electricity Policy will provide the necessary impetus to the Indian power sector.

According to our new research report, “Indian Power Sector Analysis”, state governments in co-operation with central and private players is devising strategies to ensure that the power deficits can be reduced and large number of villages can be electrified. The states are focusing on those aspects of energy, in which they have an edge, such as solar power, wind power, or hydro power.
