According to a new research report by RNCOS entitled, “Global Cancer Cognitive Computing Market Outlook 2022”, Cognitive Computing has an immense potential in enhancing the speed and effectiveness of cancer diagnostics and treatment.  As a result, Watson computing system is expanding its reach drastically, from being incorporated in 1 hospital in Thailand and 6 in India. It is also planning to incorporate the Watson platform in 21 more cancer hospitals of China.

According to WHO, cancer comprises of 680,000 deaths every year in India and is the second leading cause of death in country after heart disease. To cope up with the growing health challenge, India is facing an acute shortage of oncologists and radiation therapists. In this regard, IBM has emerged with a technological solution to fight cancer in India. IBM has come up with Manipal Hospitals, deploying Watson that helps oncologists to provide cancer patients with individualized healthcare.

Similarly, American Cancer Society and IBM have collaborated to create a virtual cancer healthcare advisor. The aim is to provide cancer patients, survivors, as well as care-givers with trusted American Cancer Society resources and guidance. Furthermore, since March 2016, IBM is working with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center to concentrate high-power computing on the development of complicated decision support. Further, at MSKCC, integrated profiling of mutations of actionable cancer targets employs assay of about 450 cancer genes, returning with very complex test results reports. These reports as well as several other factors solely determine choice of treatment for patients suffering from metastatic breast cancer. Such collaborations will help in increasing the reach of cancer cognitive computing and will aid the market growth.
