Japan Approves India For Supplying Poultry Meat

The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor & Welfare has found that Indian standards for poultry meat and other products conform to that of Japan. Consequently, the Government of Japan has ratified India as a poultry meat purveyor without even examining the plants in India.
 
Japanese Government has expressed its consent to the Indian Ministry of Commerce & Industry via the Indian Embassy in Tokyo. Appreciating the decision of the Government of Japan, Minister of Commerce & Industry Mr. Nath stated, “This is something that we have been pushing for the whole of last year”, as he had put forward the issue with the Japanese authorities on his official visit to Tokyo last year.
 
India is supposed to issue a hygiene certificate regarding the Indian poultry products to Japan, which will be applicable from October 13, 2005. No doubt, Indian poultry industry in on the threshold of being the most prominent and reliable name in poultry business across the world. India is all set to take advantage of the tremendous growth opportunities that the poultry industry is offering at present.
 
The Ministry of Commerce & Industry, India has already instigated required steps in order to begin with supplying the poultry products to Japan, as the Japanese Government has forewarned against any imparities in the standard of the products delivered to them.
 
A recent market research report published by RNCOS titled “Vision For Indian Poultry Industry: Current Scenario & Future Prospects” talks about the financial stability & growth prospects of poultry industry in India. The report claims ”Export of Poultry Meat is said to be around Rs. 50 Crores. It is most likely to touch Rs.500 Crores during the next 4-5 years.”
 
According to the report, the poultry products are exported by India to countries such as Japan, Europe and other countries with Maldives and Oman being the prominent buyers. Though India hasn’t supplied poultry meat to Japan as yet, the exported products include egg powder, frozen egg yolk & albumin powder.
 
The report includes the information on the current trends in poultry industry and also the amount of poultry products being exported by India at present. The analysts at RNCOS find, “meat products have good markets in Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. While meat products registered a growth of 10 per cent, eggs and broilers registered 16-20 per cent growth.”
 
The exhaustive SWOT analysis conducted by experts at RNCOS has made it clear that India is all set to fulfill the ever-increasing demand of poultry products across the globe, as private sectors are also contributing to the government’s effort to meet the growing demand of poultry products in international market.
