Dual Fuel Models from OEMs: Accelerating Sales

Jul 14, 2014

Share |
The shooting prices of petrol and diesel have shifted the consumer interest towards alternative fuels, thus inclining car buyers towards CNG cars in order to subdue the running cost. RNCOS latest research titled India CNG Passenger Car Market Outlook 2018" predicts the OEM sales of CNG cars to grow at a CAGR of 31% during the 5 year period FY 2013 to FY 2018.

The automobile industry is witnessing slow growth on account of weak economic activity, sky rocketing interest rates, ever-increasing fuel prices, and weak consumer sentiments among other factors. In order to boost the sales, the OEMs have adopted multi-strata strategies. One of them includes introduction of dual fuel models of their highest selling passenger cars.

Consumers prefer dual fuel vehicles to save on running cost. Moreover, in the recent times, the car industry has begun to show interest in product diversification and the car majors such as Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, General Motors, Hindustan Motors, and many others have declared the launch of more CNG car models. This trend is largely triggered by the growing consumer interest in CNG cars and surge in after-market conversions that followed the hike in petrol and diesel prices lately.

The latest RNCOS study describes the CNG car market performance in India. Current and future landscape of OEM sales of CNG cars and aftermarket fitment of CNG kits in passenger cars have been presented for key states with CNG infrastructure including Delhi-NCR, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Besides, detailed description of current and future outlook of CNG stations and pipeline network shall help strategists chalk out the right plans for expansion/entry into the potential markets. The research report presents a clear picture of the industry providing market trends, challenges, profiling of OEMs, their existing and upcoming CNG models and latest developments in the industry.
