As per a recent report “Wireless LAN Market (2007-2008)” published by RNCOS, it has been found that there were over 60 Million worldwide users of WLAN (Wireless LAN) in 2006, it’s expected that this number would reach US$ 69 million by the end of 2007.
Interop Las-Vegas 2007, a leading international business technology event that took place on 4th week of May ’07, reflected the expected growth of WLAN users (as stated by RNCOS report) through the growing confidence of WLAN vendors who came to attend the event in full strength. This has also demonstrated how an industry apparently moving ahead for commoditization is mature enough for solution providers’ profit.
During the event various vendors from devoted ones like Bluesocket, Aruba to big ones like Trapeze Networks, Netgear, and Nortel Networks launched new wireless LAN wares.
Further, startups, comprising of Ruckus Wireless, and Aerohive Networks, together with new entrants like Adtran also joined them. As per Infonetics Research, all the vendors are enthusiastic and want to secure their place in the wireless LAN equipment market that had hit around US$ 2.6 Billion globally in 2006, up 18% from 2005."Our customers are all asking for [wireless]; our engineers that weren't that interested in it now have a lot of interest in it. I thought that it was scorched earth, but now you can actually make money selling wireless with services and ongoing support," said, Tom Gobeille, Network Computing Architects, President in a statement published by EE TIMES on May 22, 2007.
Growing desire of consumers for solutions which facilitate them to work from far off places is the key driver behind the push in wireless LAN technology, adds Tom. Another driver behind this spurt in wireless LAN usage is the upcoming high-speed wireless standard 802.11n.
RNCOS’ report “Wireless LAN Market (2007-2008)” notifies the tremendous growth in Wireless LAN users worldwide. Users grew at a CAGR of 121.70% during 2002-2006. This growth is primarily attributable to users’ increasing familiarity with the technology combined with growing need of mobile access. The report also addresses some of the important subjects such as Trends in WLAN Market with respect to market value, segmentation, and success factors of WLAN Industry, opportunities and challenges associated, growing segments of WLAN industry worldwide etc.
The report provides an extensive research and objective analysis of the WLAN market worldwide and is extremely helpful for clients in analyzing the opportunities critical to the growth of the WLAN market worldwide.
