WiMAX will connect Rural India

A new mobile technology revolution is on the verge of revolution with WiMAX ready to take India by storm. WiMAX is not only publicized as 30 times faster than 3G mobile technology and 100 times faster than wireless data rates but is also anticipated to cure the problems of rural connectivity.
 
P N Padukone, Sr. Deputy Director General of Dot Telecommunication Engineering Centre said at ‘Wireless Tech India 2006’ meet that WiMAX could be the answer to ‘last mile’ connectivity issues that prohibit Internet connection in rural India.
 
With a rising demand of spectrum, WiMAX technology is becoming a method to deflect the imminent crisis. As the spectrum is finite and there are at least 40 services needed it, the solutions lies in increased sharing and make full use of the available spectrum.
 
WiMAX ensures of continuous connectivity, high-speed data, voice & multimedia services, mobility and affordability. Rural connectivity is promised as long as power supply is available, PCs are given, local languages are used in developing content and people are provided with the training of using PCs.
