Vietnam Tourist Arrivals to Surpass 5 Million by 2010

According to our new research report, "Vietnam Tourism Industry Forecast to 2012", various initiatives taken by the government and increasing number of Chinese tourists will fuel growth into the tourism industry of Vietnam. The total tourist arrivals to the country are forecasted to reach around 5 Million by 2010.

As per the research report, increase in the number of tourists over the past years has mainly been driven by aggressive marketing campaigns by the government of Vietnam along with Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), aimed at promoting the country's tourism industry. Besides this, in order to minimize the impact of recession and attract more foreign visitors to the country, Vietnam is going to organize a "Sea Festival", which will be held in Paris, in the last week of April 2009.

The research report says that China has been the largest tourism market of Vietnam for past several years. In 2008, Vietnam received 650,055 Chinese tourists which represent more than 15% of its total international visitors. To further boost the number of tourists, the government has recently given a green signal to the Chinese tourists who hold passports to travel to Vietnam after three years of postponement. Government of Vietnam is also opening various sea tourism routes linking with China.
