RNCOS, a leading industry research firm, has recently released its new report "U.S. Convenience Stores Market Outlook to 2013", which says that despite the economic recession in the country, the overall convenience store industry sales in the US registered a growth of around 8% in 2008 over 2007.

As per the research report, in-store sales opposed the overall trend in the US retail sales in 2008. Overall retail sales in the country declined as compared to more than 3% increase in in-stores sales at convenience stores. The profitability of convenience stores also increased by 54%, reversing the two-year decline when profits dropped by over 42%.

After analyzing the industry deeply, we expect that convenience stores sales will grow at a CAGR of around 5% during our forecast period (2009-2013), mainly on account of strong demand for motor fuel in the country as well as increasing in-store sales.

Additionally, at regional level, southern region continues to dominate the US convenience stores industry. This region accounted for around 47% of the total convenience stores in the US in 2008. Whereas at state level, District of Columbia seems to have the greatest potential for growth of convenience stores, as it was the least saturated state in 2008, with the ratio of one convenience store for around every 5,000 persons.

"U.S. Convenience Stores Market Outlook to 2013" is an extensive research and in-depth analysis of convenience store industry in the US. The report gives an overview of the US convenience store industry and discusses the market trends to help clients analyze the leading-edge opportunities in the US convenience store industry.
