According to our new research report UAE Steel Industry Analysis”, steel demand in the UAE has strongly soared during the past few years in the backdrop of construction boom. We have found that the UAE steel industry is highly import-oriented to meet its growing demand. Besides, the country remains the biggest importer of steel in the GCC region with most of the demand coming from its newly launched and existing infrastructure projects. It is projected that steel imports in the UAE will grow at a CAGR of 20% during 2010 - 2013. Growing private sector participation and increasing confidence of investors in the region will fuel the sector.

We have also found that imports of steel are expected to increase in the coming years with reduction in import tariff by the GCC region. However, some major expansion plans of steel players in the country will increase domestic steel output. Our research highlights that real estate projects in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are currently the key driving forces behind the steel industry growth. The report further reveals that this trend and government initiatives are playing a critical role in promoting reforms and increase competitiveness in the steel industry.

Our research has found that the UAE is one of the most attractive destinations for international players with factors such as, its geographical location being equidistant from Europe, Africa, and Asian countries, economical & reliable gas & energy resources. Besides, foreign investments will boost the steel industry in near future. With immense growth potential, our research foresees huge opportunity for various market players discussed in the report.
