Tracking Solution for Construction Equipment Fleet Owners

Jul 10, 2014

Share |
The Indian construction industry was estimated to be worth INR 30 Trillion in 2013, and is likely to touch the mark of INR 56 Trillion by the end of 2018, registering a CAGR of nearly 14% over the period cited. Many construction and infrastructure projects such as road and bridge building are located in remote regions where only satellite communication equipped GPS tracking systems are useful. It is the same scenario for mining operations in remote areas. Through GPS monitoring of construction equipment, fleet owners can track where and how the equipment is being used, giving better control of the equipment usage and productivity. One can immediately determine if equipment moves outside of a pre-defined area through a digital “geo- fence”. Location information also helps deploy equipment and workforce resources more efficiently.

With increasing fleet sizes, asset management becoming an issue, major contractors in India have started looking at tracking solutions in order to have maximum utilization of their construction fleet. Though it is still in nascent stage, the awareness is gradually increasing among large fleet owners.
