South Korea is the fourth largest energy consumer among developed countries after the United States, Japan, and Germany. South Korean energy industry has reported remarkable growth during the past few decades, says “South Korean Energy Sector Analysis”, a research report by RNCOS. At present, South Korea is almost entirely dependent on imports to meet its energy demand because of limited domestic energy resources. As per our research, oil is the dominant source of energy in South Korea with around 40% share in overall energy consumption in 2009. Coal is the second-largest source of energy consumption in South Korea.

Hydropower and other renewable energy sources make up a small fraction of the total energy consumption mix. Recognizing its high dependency on external sources, South Korea has been trying to diversify its energy supply by developing new energy resources. Importance of nuclear power & renewable source of energy is growing to ensure security and diversity of energy supply. Shift from fossil fuels source to non-fossil fuels will also help to reduce the dependence of energy industry on imports.

The government R&D policies & measures coupled with ongoing liberalization process and energy reforms will open up window of opportunities in the South Korean energy industry, particularly for renewable energy sources. Our report provides a comprehensive research and prudent analysis on the South Korean energy industry. Focus of the report is on petroleum, gas, coal, and alternative sources of energy.

This extensive research will help clients to identify market trends and evaluate the leading-edge opportunities critical for the success of the energy market. The report presents an overview of various factors driving the market. Our research also provides forecast on primary energy consumption, petroleum consumption, natural gas consumption, coal consumption, and electricity consumption. In addition, a brief business description of key players has been included in the report.
