Rising Outbound Tourism Facilitating China Mark Global Presence

In the last few years, the outbound tourism in China has picked up pace, leaving behind the inbound tourist arrivals. According to China Tourism Sector New Opportunities”, a research report by RNCOS, nearly 61.9 Million residents of China traveled across different geographical regions of the world in 2011. Ongoing government programs, increasing number of international agreements with European and Asian countries, and relaxed visa restrictions, make it easier for the Chinese citizens to travel abroad. Keeping in view such encouraging factors, the study estimates that the total number of outbound travelers will grow at an around 8.5% CAGR during 2012-14.
 
The report, which presents information and statistics relating to prominent market segments, such as inbound, outbound and domestic tourism, found that China was ranked third in the world during 2010 in terms of outbound tourists. Overall, the Chinese tourism industry has emerged as a new growth avenue due to rising purchasing power, rapid economic liberalization, and favorable policies. The developments and reforms in the country have taken the tourism industry to new heights. The industry has expanded to leisure vacation, industrial technology and cultural tourisms, and medical tourism, MICE section and online travel are also witnessing an unprecedented growth due to strong government support and internet penetration.
