Prospects of 3G Services Remain Bright in Turkish Telecom Market

The Turkish telecommunication sector has been growing at rapid pace on the back of rapid economic growth increasing number of businesses, rising income level and most importantly, government's initiatives aimed at privatization and liberalization of the market. In a move to further allow intensified competition, Turkish government issued MNP and 3G licenses in the country during late 2008, making the Turkish market an appealing area for future investment. The process ended with the successful allocation of 3G spectrum among the country's three GSM operators: Turkcell, Vodafone and Avea.

Mobile subscriber penetration is projected to grow to around 93% by 2013, up from an estimated 86% in 2009.
