According to a new report "Processed Food Market in Poland Outlook 2012" by RNCOS, Poland has one of the most dynamic food processing industries in Eastern Europe. Presence of large number of enterprises involved in processing of food products, availability of domestic and imported raw material and the country's accession into EU has given a new dimension to the food processing business in Poland. During 2008, total revenue from food processing industry was estimated around US$ 67.45 Billion, which is anticipated to surpass US$ 100 Billion by 2011.

The favorable consumer behavior, increasing consumption of processed food products and rising investments level has strengthened the food processing business in Poland. Moreover, Polish food processing industry is unlikely to bear any major impact of 2008 financial turbulences. The demand for processed food will continue to rise and companies will tend to invest more in future in order to tap the unexplored market potential.

Also, Poland's EU accession boosted exports from the country's food processing industry (meat and dairy sectors), mostly to EU countries as well as to new markets located in Asia.  This trend is expected to continue in the coming years also. Some products are subject to new EU sanitary restrictions that prohibit their sale in Poland almost entirely, such as poultry and beef. Exporters of beef jerky need hormone free inputs.

At present, several domestic and international companies are present in the Polish food processing market. There are also a number of small companies operating in the fruit, vegetable, meat processing and baking sectors located throughout Poland. The most important sectors of the food processing industry are meat, dairy, and alcohol, followed by confectionery and food concentrates.

It will help clients to analyze the market trends critical to success of the food processing industry in the country. The report gives overview on the direction in which the market is likely to move.
