Indian Power Sector to Boost by Significant Demand Patterns

The total installed capacity in the country grew from 132,329 MW in 2006-07 to 173,626 MW in 2010-11 and the share of domestic sector in total electricity consumption is estimated to have crossed 29% by 2010-11. A total of 110,337 villages in 546 districts were sanctioned for rural electrification under the 10th and 11th Plan.
