Britain to Battle against Climate Change

Dec 29, 2007

Brits have pulled up their socks to fight against the drastic climate change for a fresh and clean environment in future.

Every single household in Britain will have to shell out a minimum of £100 a year more for energy within the coming two decades (2008-2028) if the Government has to fulfill its fruitless promises to deal with climate change, as per the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) task force and the news advertised by
Telegraph.

The task force declares the cost incurred to emit a ton of carbon dioxide to increase up to four times the price it deals on the European market today by 2020. That price would be shared with consumers for the price of energy and costs incurred in goods and services.

In conjunction with this, CBI also summons the government to develop a concrete framework of incentives, regulation and tax reform to assist business to set forth a low carbon economy. The anticipated system will allow major carbon-intensive infrastructure projects like new roads and airports and making the public disempowered. CBI also mentions that global warming must become a common concern for business, consumers and the government.

Because of the increasing amount of carbon dioxide in the environment, the risk of global warming is springing up as a more critical issue for the entire globe.

Britain alone is accountable for nearly 4% of global emissions. Nearly 90% of emissions are emitted from transport, building, power and industrial sectors in Britain, and each sector has to emphasize on various methods to slash emissions, according to the news by
IHT.

That is why greater sense of urgency is mandatory if the UK is to meet its proposed objectives for decreasing greenhouse gas emissions at a reduced price, and to bring about a sense of international leadership role in a reduced carbon economy of the future.

As per CBI, the UK energy industry will do "what it takes" to battle climate change and to assist Britain to attain reduction in carbon dioxide pollution by 60% through 2050.

According to a Research Analyst at
RNCOS, “The greenhouse gas emissions have always been a cause of concern among environmentalists of the world. The prevailing economic condition across the world is soaring, leading to burgeoning industries. Britain’s initiative towards lessening CO2 level will persuade other countries to follow too. The countries can switch to alternative fuels such as biofuels and CNG which produce relatively lesser pollution.”
