HotNewsTurkey.

The institute further revealed that the industry earned $3.9 Billion from arrivals of foreign tourists in the second quarter of 2008, whereas the Turkish citizens living overseas contributed $739 Million to the total income and the biggest tourists flow was seen in the month of June when industry earned $1.9 Billion. The foreign tourists arrivals increased at an annual rate of 19.17% to 3.31 Million in June 2008 and the total number of tourists in H1 of 2008 surged 16.36% to 10.69 Million against the same period last year.

Landscape beauty, historical sites, recreational activities on warm and sunny beaches and cultural heritage are some of the most exciting aspects of the Turkish tourism industry, attracting visitors from all corners of the world. Nightlife in Turkey is even more exciting as discos and other entertainment places draw tourists to make vacations enthralling. Moreover, the Turkish drama series screened on one of the TV channels is also attracting visitors who hope to meet its star.

Further, the Turkish tourism industry features low traveling packages that have boosted the number of tourists arrivals in the country. Turkey is particularly famous for its rural tourism, shopping places, and cuisine that encourage more and more tourists from across the world.

However, the industry is expected to down trend in tourist arrivals in near future though the industry saw good arrivals in the first half of 2008. The industry might face some problems relating to environment and infrastructure, terror incidents and maltreatment of animals that could stop visitors from traveling to the country.

According to a Research Analyst at
RNCOS, “The Turkish tourism industry grew in the second quarter of 2008 as number of tourist arrivals increased, supporting the country’s economy by bringing in huge foreign exchange. But to further raise the inbound tourism, the government should deal effectively with problems that the industry is facing by expanding the green areas and installing wastewater treatment plants. Tourists should get complete satisfaction about their security therefore terrorist activities should be suppressed.”
