The global telecom industry is projected to grow strongly as investment in infrastructure development has gone up and launch of new technologies is attracting more users.
Infonetics has predicted that the global telecom industry will see strong growth and is expected to have 5.2 Billion mobile users by 2011, as reported by Seeking Alpha.
Mobile broadband subscription is expected to surge at a CAGR of 104% by 2011. Moreover, it is projected that there will be one mobile broadband user against every four wired broadband users. The number of broadband users on their mobile phones is estimated to triple from current 577 Million to over 1.7 Billion by 2013. Also, around 2.1 Billion people will be using ‘Pay By Mobile’ service by 2013.
The forecast of high growth in the global telecom industry is mainly based on the rollout of new technologies such as 3G mobile services and WiMAX across the world. These technologies will play a key role in the development of broadband and mobile services in BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) region that is expected to see strong growth through 2011. Besides, the Asian countries have observed strong demand for basic voice and wireless services that are further boosting the usage of mobile phones. Consequently, the global telecom industry will grow at a rapid pace in coming years.
Further, with improvement in the next generation network owing to continuous efforts from mobile operators for infrastructure development and implementation of quality solutions to add value to current services, the number of wireless subscribers will keep rising. High speed on cable and DSL will also boost growth in the expansion of the global telecom industry.
Apart from this, strong growth in the telecom industry will give support to the economic development of many countries. As the number of telecom service users rise at a rapid pace and high-speed wireless services become more common, new technologies continue to emerge in foreground and the existing ones become more perfect.
According to a Research Analyst at RNCOS, “The launch of new telecom technologies will drive the global telecom industry in coming times. And this robust growth will also help many countries by supporting their economies as it will create more employment opportunities in the telecom sector. Also, mobile service providers and broadband companies will collect huge profits with the expansion of the industry.”
