Apart from cell phones, demand for desktop and laptop is also increasing at a blistering pace in the country due to rapid industrialization.

Further, the improving infrastructure and introduction of latest technologies like WiMAX and 3G in the Indian telecom market are also boosting growth in the industry. And rising demand for new devices like play stations, iPods, etc. among young population of is resulting in high growth in the telecom sector too.

ASSOCHAM also said that in spite of strong growth in the Indian telecom industry, limited bandwidth, poor infrastructure, and low-density in rural areas are certain challenges that the industry have to overcome.

According to a Research Analyst at
RNCOS, “Due to growing acceptance of new mobile technologies, the Indian telecom industry is witnessing strong growth. But the telecom services providers need to offer attractive packages to rural areas to enhance the subscription base. The Infrastructure development and broadening of bandwidth should be the priority of players to maintain strong growth in the sector in future.”
