WLAN: Top Choice of Industry Professionals

As per a recent survey, dial-up Internet is on its path to extinction, as WLAN becomes the top choice of people & industry professionals.

WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) is now a leading connective choice of mobile professionals encouraging wider array of multi-mode/ multi-radio handheld devices, influencing WiFi's omnipresence, as per a recent survey by Strategy Analysts.

WiFi has outperformed dial-up this year as the top choice for remote access & has beaten dial-up by a healthy margin. An encouraging 35% of business users in USA use WLAN as a primary method for remote communication while dial-up is being used by 11% of users, at par with fixed broadband.

WLAN is now looking beyond notebook PCs. It is now being used in various other applications, 4 out of 5 notebooks in USA have WiFi, with 88% of industry professionals using the technology quite actively. Influenced by WLAN infrastructure proliferation & notebook penetration, WLAN adoption is indeed prevailing for remote communication.
