The US Department of Energy believes that wind energy could provide 20% of the total power need in the US as it is experiencing high growth.
As indicated by the US Energy Department’s statement on May 12, 2008, by 2030, wind power could supply about 20% of the country’s total electricity requirements. This comes close on the heels of a fantastic progress in the wind sector, from the present output of 16.8 GW to 304 GW by 2030, as reported by XinhuaNet.
Furthermore, representatives at the DoE disclosed that for attaining the targeted growth, the number of turbine deployments per annum has to be raised from about 2,000 in 2006 to approximately 7,000 in 2017. Especially, the study recognizes prospects of forestalling 7.6 Cumulative Gigatons of carbon dioxide by 2030, saving around 825 Million Metric Tons in 2030 and each year after that if the wind energy attains the country’s electricity target.
According to industry analysts, with development in electricity restructuring, the discussion over suitable methods for promoting renewable energy, comprising wind energy, has increased in the US. Therefore, to cut down GHG emissions and to improve the energy safety, clean gigawatt-scale power production will be required. The introduction of the generation of clear power will need a panoptic approach to scaling renewable wind energy, reorganizing permitting procedures, and enlarging the native wind-producing base. This would assist in improving the upcoming wind industry in the US.
Also, power demand in the US is increasing owing to its increasing industrial area coupled with thriving business industry, which require a sizeable amount of electricity to run. The rising population also needs more accommodations, thereby leading to higher power demand in the country. The rising power demand has increased the reliance on current powerhouses. Hence, all these factors are liable to augment servicing chances in the alternative power station services industry, including the wind industry.
According to a Research Analyst at RNCOS, “Rising power demand in the US is giving support to the market of renewable source of power, including wind energy. Its not just market of wind power generation getting benefit from strong demand of green fuel energy but others, particularly manufacturers of wind energy equipment, are also leveraging from it.”
