Tourist Industry Thriving in Illinois

The beauty of the place together with the promotional activities put up by the Tourism bureau has increased the scope and returns of tourism in Illinois.

At Illinois, the government focuses a lot on attracting tourists and the efforts are yielding good results, as the city has so many reasons to lure tourists.  The number of people visiting Illinois is on rise, attracting more foreign exchange, as per the news reported by
wrex.

A record 91 million local visitors from places around Illinois visited Illinois last year (2006).  It is about 6.4% higher than 2005 and according to the report of Illinois Bureau of Tourism it is the highest ever.

Sources of Travel Industry Association of America say, in 2006 the state spent almost US$ 27 Billion on tourism promotion.  This generates more tax revenue, which in turn brings more money to government and for promotional activities related to tourism.  Chicago, with 44 million tourists, set a bright example for tourism in America.  From 2005, there has been a 10% increase in tourism in Chicago.  Following its footsteps, Illinois were host to 47 million tourists, which was 3.3% more than 2005.

There are various interesting places for the tourists at Illinois.  Events such as Heritage Tractor Adventure conducted at Grundy and LaSalle counties are a major attraction for the visitors.  The yearly event lure tractor aficionados to Illinois to enjoy ride on their machines in the countryside with people sharing similar interests.

As a part of the tourism campaign, the state is offering a three-day package deal for families visiting Illinois.  The package provides the tourists a complete sightseeing of the best places to visit.  This includes places of historical value, fun-filled and exciting venues.
