This brings the city retail inventory to 36 million square feet. According to the Researcher of REOC, the second quarter growth can be described as a "moderate" rise.
With the help of new land the city is gripping good space. San Antonio vacancy rate in the first half of 2006 was 10.5% as compared to 12.2 % during the same period in 2005.
While the space at neighborhood and community centers rose at the rate of single digit pace and the regional shopping center slump 1.2% inventory to 7.2 million square feet. Researcher said, Windsor Park shopping Mall in Northeast province of San Antonio was pulled out of the inventory and the elimination of Windsor mall improved the vacancy rate to 7.3 % from 15.1 % last year.
San Antonio's Northwest province has the biggest number of retail shopping centers about 12 million square feet which is followed by North Central part at 9.2 million square feet. Similarly, Northwest province also has the huge amount of free space at 1.2 million with Northeast coming in second at 1.1 million square feet. It's said that the Northwest region is a most popular spot for developers.
