Microsoft annunciated the official launch of its much anticipated Web search engine, 'Live Search' that was previously available in beta stage. Microsoft is looking ahead to compete with likes of Yahoo & Google with this.

Microsoft has also disclosed that 'Live Search' will be used for search traits on MSN, Microsoft's entertainment portal and it will replace MSN search, Microsoft's current search engine that is available in 23 languages & 47 markets.

"The introduction of 'Live Search' is an important milestone for our services business, with our core search and monetization base ready for prime time for MSN and Windows Live, as well as for partners, through combination deals. We now have the platform to weave search through our services in methods that bring value to customers. This is just a starting. We look ahead to continued investment in search to furnish services that bring new heights of control and personification to the Web experience," stated Christopher Payne of Microsoft in Techtree news. 'Live Search' offers better user interface & many custom-made tools and aspires to offer a useful & convenient search experience to the Internet surfers.

"Search engine biggies like Google & Yahoo will not face much competition from 'Live Search' in coming future. With Google & Yahoo providing new services every now & then to make their search engines better, Microsoft has to think 'out of the box' if it intends 'Live Search' to achieve what its predecessors couldn't. With Internet Explorer 7 & Windows Vista almost ready to enter the market, Microsoft will set 'Live Search' as a default search engine to enhance its popularity," said a RNCOS analyst.

Microsoft will introduce a common portal also (www.live.com) for its 'live' brand, which aims to provide free-of-cost web services to net-users.
