Northern Africa, which includes Kenya's fiercest competitors like Egypt and Morocco, saw tourist arrival grow by just 6% ".
Kenyan Tourism industry has shown 18% growth in its revenue in the first quarter of this year translating to sh17.5 Billion. This growth has resulted from the milieu of constant US travel advisory on the state of insecurity and hovering terrorist attacks in the country, As per the news published on Kenya Times.
Kenya is still one of the most popular and frequently visited tourist destinations in Africa in spite of the growing competition it is facing from other tourist destinations. Kenyan tourism industry is primarily reliant on natural attractions that include tranquilizing beaches and wildlife resting in its natural habitat. Almost 10% of the nation has been kept aside for wildlife and bio-diversity conservation.
For the first time, Americans have surpassed Germans in terms of tourist arrivals in the year 2006. Kenya tourist reports say that America has boosted the tourism industry of their country and therefore, Americans have become the second most valuable group to them. America held the second position with 86,500 tourists and Germany was at third spot with 83,400 tourists. United kingdom had the largest number of tourists visiting Kenya in 2006, counting to 171,400.
These statistics are an answer for those questioning Kenya tourism's future prospects. The Kenyan ministry of tourism and wildlife is expecting a quintuple growth in tourist arrivals by 2012. It has already tripled since 2000.
According to research analysts at RNCOS, the increasing number of tourists re-visiting Kenya suggests that the tourists wish to explore the unexplored regions of this country. Kenya is seeking to grow in a sustained yet aggressive manner by keeping conservation at the forefront of any expansion plan.
