International Technology Alliance Launched

International Technology Alliance has  launched an alliance to developing wireless networking & target sensor technologies.

International Technology Alliance, an alliance led by IBM research, launched on September 18th 2006, aims to focus on developing wireless networking & target sensor technologies and other security issues. This group includes UK's Defense Ministry & Army Research Labs in US.

Main focus will be on processing technology, sensor information, security issues & wireless networks. Academic, industry & Govt researches from both the nations will participate. This coalition will concentrate on investing around $135.8 million in developing technologies for supporting future operations.

Dinesh Verma, an IBM researcher & program manager for ITA said that IBM is optimistic to achieve high gains from this alliance and contribute towards the growth of commercial & military applications.

"The alliance shows IBM's dedication towards the development of emerging technologies. With growing risks of terrorism & other security threats, these technologies will play a major role in addressing security issues in future", said an analyst at
RNCOS.

With ITA, IBM continues to contribute towards the growth of advanced technologies like RFID, sensors & other networking devices for use in healthcare, education & security sectors. ITA has 24 partners from industry including IBM, BBN, Boeing Honeywell and Roke Manor research whereas academic partners include the likes of Imperial College, City University & many others. IBM is also providing contract administration & project management functions in US & UK.
