In Biotechnology, Thailand Collaborating With Cuba

Thailand is looking towards cuba for the collaboration in the field of biotechnology to bring bring beneficial changes in food & herbal studies.

Thai Science & Technology Minister Dr. Pravich has expressed his interest in Cuban biotechnology. He has no doubt that the collaboration in the field of biotechnology research will bring beneficial changes in food & herbal studies.

Thai Science & Technology Minister told about the collaboration between Thailand and Cuba while Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his associates were on a tour to Cuba. According to the ministry, both the countries have signed a contract for scientific teamwork in the field of four areas, including materials science, electronics & computer, biotechnology and nanotechnology.

Ministry official said that it's an opportunity for Thai people to study new scientific knowledge from Cuba, as both countries did not have regular contacts over the past years. Dr. Pravich said that Cuba is superior in biotechnology because the country is rich in biological resources. He also added that this trip is a chance for both the countries to work together and swap over their scientific researches and studies.

According to Science & technology minister, Cuban biotechnology industry particularly in the ground of plants & cereals has huge selection. This is because Thai government is keenly looking forward to begin this collaboration. The Thai official have also visited Cuba's Cancer Research Institute. Thai Official said that Cuba has an expertise in treating cancer patients with herbal medicines, and Thailand is keen to learn and exchange its knowledge and information with this country.
