EMC to Buy Network Intelligence

Jun 24, 2007

World's biggest manufacturer in data storage,EMC Corporation has also acquired Network Intelligence Corporation, a local security firm based in Westwood.

EMC Corporation, world's biggest manufacturer in data storage, which completed its acquisition of RSA security, has also acquired Network Intelligence Corporation, a local security firm based in Westwood for $ 175 million.

According to Dennis Hoffman of EMC, they would integrate both the companies to launch a common platform for security to develop high levels of protection to be incorporated in EMC products in future.

He said that customers are highly focused on security issues these days and these acquisitions will provide them with a good start. The security platform will be seen in every EMC product by June 2007.

Network Intelligence is a private company, with around 120 employees, that focuses on developing 'log management' programs capable of tracking activities on corporate networks.

The software allows network administrators to monitor activities on over thousand machines present in a corporate network environment and, therefore, helps in prevention of security related issues.

"Seeing the raging concern over security issues these days, EMC has made the right deal by acquiring these two companies. With this, EMC can offer better security protection to its customers", said an analyst at
RNCOS.

Hoffman added that the software would ensure proper security measures in firms as per government standards. EMC will use access control & data encryption technologies from the RSA acquisition.
