Turkey: Automobile Exports Reach US $10.6 Billion

On Thursday, the Uludao Exporters' Union (UYB) told the news agency Anatolia that Turkish automobile exports increased by 16.6% and reached US$ 10.6 Billion between January and September 2006.

Turkish automobile sector constitutes among the main strengths of Turkish automotive Industry with its significance as amongst the most advanced branches of manufacture industry in Turkey. The automobile sector of Turkey presents a fast rising performance within the economy of the country.

In addition, the economic revival in Turkish domestic market and increasing exports led to 53 percent rise in Turkish total automobile production & 52 percent rise in passenger vehicle production in 2004 as compared to 2003.

In 2004 the realized increase in production in minibuses was 107 percent, light lorries 43 percent, trucks 75 percent, and buses 16 percent. Again for the commercial motor vehicle sector, production increased by 57 percent and reached to 376,000 vehicles. As per the Uludao Exporters' Union, in 2004 Turkish earning revenue for automotive exports was US $ 10.7 Billion.

Between January and September 2005, Turkish exports figure for automotive sector' was US $9.09 Billion. From 2005 Turkish automobile exports rose 18% in the month of September 2006 & reached US $1.2 Billion. Turkey exported vehicles to 13 free zones economic countries as well as 165 other countries and also in the autonomous regions. According to an automotive industry analyst, Italy ranked 1st among the countries receiving Turkish exports.
