Taiwan Offers Improved Medical Facilities

Over the years, Taiwan has improved its medi-care resources, which has offered it a competitive edge.

In an international seminar held in Taipei, on medical care industry, the participants of the seminar concluded that Taiwan had a good scope in the medical care industry and it could become a world-class medical care center in the years to come. They also short-listed 10 other areas, which could help Taiwan get an edge over its competitors, as per the news published on

Taiwan News, the Director of the Research Center for Taiwan Economic Development, Chu Tyun-peng, said, “Taiwan’s medical industry could become a driving force in another wave of economic boom. He said if Thailand and Singapore could succeed in international medicine, Taiwan, with its high-quality medical capabilities and inexpensive medical service, could definitely excel in the same area”.

CEPD (Council for Economic Planning and Development) has placed the international medical services project on top of their priority list of a three-year plan that was drafted to develop Taiwan. Since then it has been taking various steps to attract foreign customers to its medical, tourism, immigration and insurance sector.

The hospitals in Taiwan offer high-class and excellent medical services to its patients. In terms of infant mortality rate and the life expectancy rate, Taiwan is at par with the US. The Chinese herbal medicine that is processed in Taiwan may give it a competitive edge in the medical tourism industry over its competitors.  

Along with the excellent medical facilities that Taiwan provides, it also offers various kinds of spas that attract people from different parts of the world, seeking healthcare. Taiwan has sought measures to improve upon its spas by supplementing it with elements from Europe, Bali and North America.

Further, Taiwan also attracts people looking for medical treatments at reduced prices. It offers laser surgery at a price of US$1000, which is substantially cheaper than that offered by the Southeastern countries.

As per a research analyst at
RNCOS, “With the growing popularity of medical tourism throughout the world, Taiwan has also sought various measures to improve its medical tourism. Better medical equipments and spa treatments attract people from all over the world.”
