North American Telecom Sector Opens Doors for India & China

Apr 30, 2007

As the North American Market slows down, it's helping the Asia/Pacific telecommunication equipments market to grow profoundly.

Growth of Asia/Pacific telecommunication equipment market will remain robust, from US $ 43 billion last year to US $ 49 billion next year. While North American telecommunication market slows, telecom equipment suppliers are looking forward to Asia-Pacific where the growth in Internet & wireless services is accelerating demand.

Asia-Pacific isn't immune from global depression in telecom sector & prices have come down, creating markets & good demand for Internet & wireless services in countries such as India & China & making a highly attractive market for optical transport in the region. Fiber-optic telecommunication transport equipment shipments to Asia-Pacific will reach US $ 6.2 billion in 2006.

"With the recent slowdown in global telecommunication sector, worldwide firms, specifically those in US, are seeking new market opportunities. The opportunities are present in China right now. The government of China intends to spend billions of dollars in order to upgrade the telecom infrastructure in the country under its official 10th 5-Year Plan (spanning 2001-2005), & the Beijing Olympics are likely to encourage billions more investment in the local networks", said by an economist.

Since India is also amongst the most rapidly developing markets for mobile telecommunications, and everyone can see vast opportunities available for manufacturing services. India, with over one billion of population, is also amongst the most exciting & speedily growing areas for handset, network equipment, OEMs & EMS providers.

Difference between nations such as China and India and North American markets is the ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) in this part of the world, which is comparatively smaller. Telecom equipment designed for high ARPU nations such as North America won't suit India.

With intensifying competition in the market, equipment vendors shall have to distinguish themselves so as to grab projects through doing well in a central area of product or by offering comprehensive options and uninterrupted solutions. However both the countries offer great opportunities in domestic telecommunications sector. Also, host our worldwide customers in their marketplaces.
