4th Generation (4G) in Japan Mobile Market

Apr 25, 2007

mTouche Technology will decide the  future of mobiles in Japan. The Japanese market is strategically best for giving huge benefits to the mTouche, the M-Bit network provider.

The ambitious plans of mTouche Technology Berhad (‘mTouche’), a Malaysian mobile technology provider, were unveiled with its venture into Japan. To tap the potential of advanced mobile nations, mTouche will be launching its latest 4G (4th Generation) mobile content that will offer M-Bi Network. According to
SDA Asia, the deal involves a 10% share subscription by IWAI Group worth US$ 100, 000 in mBit — a 60% owned mTouche subsidiary that offers M-Bit Network.

In a news published on
Business Times, mTouche’s chief executive officer Eugene Goh said “For mTouche, Japan is both enormously prospective with a mobile population of more than 100 million subscribers, and technologically advanced with established 4G networks, and there is no better way to penetrate such a dynamic mobile market as Japan than to tie up with the parties with the necessary knowledge, experience and business networking relationships in that market.”

When it comes to embracing new technology, the Japanese mobile telephone market is one of the fastest. Figures for June end 2006 show that subscriptions are way past 92 million. Japan accounts for more than 50% of 3G technology users and the 4G infrastructure is fast being put in place. Various services like QR barcodes, e-wallets, mobile TV and radio, and CD-quality music downloads are available to more than 60 million Japanese on their mobile handsets.

The next trend in wireless communications would be the 4G mobile system based on Open Wireless Platform Architecture powered by the strong growth oriented Japanese economy.  In the near future, Japan will be the hub of 4G mobile with huge funds invested in 4G mobile core technologies.

The Japanese market sees the cell phone more than mere a talking device; it is regarded as a very important device for the exchange of digital information. Online transactions from mobile devices or mobile commerce have revealed new market for goods and travel, entertainment, music industries. The significant increase in the mobile market over the next three years is great news and opportunity for 4G mobile service providers, states an analyst at
