With an aim to provide excellent healthcare facilities, CureOnTour has decided to invest in Malaysia and other countries known for medical tourism worldwide.
CureOnTour, the US firm, would invest RM200 Million in Malaysia and some other English speaking countries in coming five years to encourage medical tourism, according to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Bernhard Schutte, as published by Bernama.
The officer also added that the investment could rise seeing the burgeoning medical tourism, which is currently valued at $20 Billion and is likely to become double and reach $40 Billion from 2008 to 2012.
As per the officer, CureOnTour was founded with an aim to promote top quality medical procedures. The officer also said that Malaysia is one of the leading countries in Asia that offers excellent medical facilities and therefore, it provides value for money.
Schutte also said that CureOnTour deals only with medical facilities and surgeons, as they need to meet high standards to sell medical tourism around the world. The firm has signed a contract with Subang Jaya Medical Centre and it is going to sign contracts with many others, including Sunway and Gleaneagles.
Schutte also said that the standards of medical facilities in Malaysia are equal to those with which firm deals in the US and Germany. “Malaysia has the same kind of quality or standards, sometime even better than a lot of American hospitals.”
The rising reputation of Malaysia as a favored healthcare and medical destination is attracting patients from across the world looking for good medical facilities in critical health services, cosmetic and remedial care. Moreover, medical expertise in Malaysia is quite good and comes in the category of the best in the world. Majority of private hospitals follow internationally recognized medical standards.
A recent report by RNCOS, “Opportunities in Malaysian Tourism Industry (2007-2009)”, highlights that Malaysia has remarkable hospitals with talented surgeons who have studied in the UK, Australia or the USA. More and more people are coming to Malaysia for their treatment from different corners of the world because the treatment is cost effective and facilities are excellent. In 2005, the Malaysian tourism was measured at around $40 Million and it reached around $69 Million in 2006 and is expected to cross $600 Million by 2010.”
