According to the news which was published in Fresh Plaza, Tesco Plc, Britain's biggest merchandise on April 25, 2007 said that, by February 2008, it hopes to launch 100 "Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets" in the United States.
The markets such as foodstuff markets are going to be smaller as compared to usual established superstores. It will not only take ready-to-eat meals, in to account but also will offer fresher and healthy friendly items ever sold at mainstream U.S. food markets and available stores.
Sir Terry Leahy in news published on Tescocorporate, said, "This is a tremendously exciting move for Tesco which will add a new leg to our international expansion. The United States is the largest economy in the world with strong forecast growth and a sophisticated retail market. It is a market we have researched extensively for many years and over the last year we have committed serious resources to developing a format that we believe will be really popular with American consumers, Tesco Chief Executive"
The focus on healthier eating in the United States is influencing the retail grocery market of the country.
